This image was created as a part of the ongoing project "A House Redivided" in which we are updating the language of history to our present communication technologies. To this end we have begun blogging the entire Civil War (http://ahouseredivided.blogspot.com), refighting battles in Warcraft (http://civilwarcraft.harveylovesharvey.com) and
reporting the Battle of Gettysburg for a cable news channel. This image merges Lincoln's visit to the Antietam battlefield, around the time he issued the preliminary Emancipation Proclamation, with George W. Bush's famous "Mission Accomplished" banner. The text is from an 1862 issue of Harper's Weekly.
